2    VDF 12 Introduction - Session One

John Tuohy

Software development has gotten a lot more complicated in the last few years.  We as developers have to get a lot smarter to keep up.  We should keep the software simpler and develop better tools for the users.

The goals of the VDF studio is to become better at modelling source code.  The studio needs to become really fast and become a state of the art development platform.

3

Pen Input with VDF

Oliver Nelson

He showed an application that is being developed especially for pen input.  Custom classes was developed and a set of standards developed to make pen input a viable technique in VDF.  For pen input (or any other input mechanism for that matter) to be effective, the application must be designed around the constraints/capabilities of that input mechanism.  The pen input capabilities built into Windows XP Tablet PC Edition are very basic and rather anemic.  Our classes extend upon these in many ways.  He  demonstrated gesture recognition, handwriting recognition, factoids, and our extensions to make these features more useful.
